In many cases the energy savings that can be made are so substantial that it can mean holding on to staff that would otherwise be let go from an organistation that may be downsizing in a challenging economic environment.

There is nothing wrong with that except they are skipping a vital step in effective energy management. Before you consider changing the source of your energy , you should always look at how much energy you are using and why ? Before you invest in renewable energy you should make sure you are not wasting energy right now.
